AIX introduces direct subscription for upcoming IPOs of National companies

28 June 2022

Astana International Exchange (“AIX”, “Exchange”) is pleased to introduce a direct subscription platform for the upcoming IPOs in the framework of the Privatization Program of Samruk-Kazyna Fund, providing equal access to all citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan to subscribe to shares in National companies. A presentation of the platform was made within the international conference Astana Finance Days organized by the Astana International Financial Centre.

The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the IPOs in National companies are a priority. At the AIFC Management Council held on June 27, 2022 the Head of State said that “ordinary citizens of our country should be able to purchase shares in national companies and receive their dividends from these investments. This is the way to create the investment culture of the population. Participation in the IPO must become accessible to all residents of Kazakhstan. This requires new digital solutions that would eliminate paperwork and bureaucracy.”

Almassadam Satkaliyev, the CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, said:

“In order to involve broad segments of the population, we plan to use the digital infrastructure of Kazpost, exchanges and brokers. For example, it will be possible to buy shares without leaving home, using mobile applications, and for remote regions – to use the services of Kazpost offices”.

Renat Bekturov, CEO of AIX, stated:

“We believe all citizens of Kazakhstan should get ample opportunities to participate in the upcoming IPOs. It is extremely important to structure the public offering to be as accessible as possible and to encourage investors not just to buy and sell, but also to hold shares in their portfolio for the longer term. And AIX is fully ready to facilitate this through the innovative solutions and our trading platform.”

The direct subscription will be available through a Tabys mobile application and/or Kazpost network throughout Kazakhstan.

To get a direct subscription for the IPO through Tabys, the investor is required to have an ID card and a smartphone with Internet access. The service is available online, 24/7.

Another way is to go to one of the automated Kazpost offices (721 around Kazakhstan) and approach an operator to get a direct subscription and a technical consultation if needed.

Serik Saudabayev, Chief Executive Officer of Kazpost, said:

“We are excited to be a part of this process and promote greater access of the people of Kazakhstan to the IPOs of the National companies. The direct subscription will be available in 721 Kazpost offices around Kazakhstan and will make it possible to cover all regions of the country with this service. Our specialists are ready to provide qualified assistance to customers and answer all their questions.”

It will also be possible to participate in the upcoming IPOs in a traditional way through the brokers (trading members of the AIX).

AIX’s direct subscription platform for the upcoming IPOs will be available in the Tabys app and 721 Kazpost offices once the IPO parameters are officially released.

Tabys mobile app was launched In December 2020 and supported by AIX to provide retail investors an easy way to learn about the capital markets and to start investing with small amounts of money. So far more than 25k accounts have been opened for individuals using TabysApp. It is available to download at AppStore and Google Play.
