Astana International Exchange (“AIX”, “Exchange”) and Bitfinex Securities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreed to establish cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
Bitfinex Securities is a platform for the listing and trading of tokenized securities licensed in the FinTech Lab by the Astana Financial Services Authority (“AFSA”).
The Parties have identified several initiatives and shared goals for their collaboration, such as, cooperation in the field of dual listing of fully fungible conventional and tokenized securities; establishment of post-trade links between their respective securities settlement systems; joint promotion of their efforts to establish efficient bridges between conventional and tokenized trading venues.
Olivier Guéris, Chief Operating Officer, AIX, said:
“AIX and Bitfinex share the belief that so called “traditional” and “digital” finance are two sides of the same coin and their integration creates more synergies than hurdles. Both models are not antagonistic and creating bridges and fungibility between them in a fully regulated environment can only benefit issuers and investors, thereby boosting the overall liquidity of our common marketplace.”
Jesse Knutson, Head of Operations, Bitfinex Securities said:
“We see this collaboration with the AIX as an important step in the technological upgrade of capital markets. This model creates a low-cost alternative to products like depository receipts and provides publicly listed companies with a path to global liquidity. For traders and investors, this brings the benefits of real-time settlement, 24/7/365 trading and the ability to access more high-quality investment opportunities. We think dual listings could evolve to be a major driver of liquidity on both exchanges.”
